Do you need a change:
When is it that a professional should look out for a change?????Should money be the only consideration while looking out for a new job?????....or does something else also matter?????
Well my answer to the above questions are that it is an individual requirement, no two individuals would lookout for a change due to similar reasons. There can be a single reason or many different reasons..........It would not be in the individuals interest to try and mould his/her answer depending on what s/he has heard others answer to the same question... Trust me an experienced interviewer can look through your soul after a few minutes, if not a few seconds................Scary .......but don't worry, there are ways to modulate the same answers to sound different...
So firstly seeks within, why you want to move on & find a new job, when you maybe quite settled in your daily grind..
There could be many reasons:
a) The company is changing its line of focus/business.
b) You feel that you are finished with your job at the company & now you can devote your time to some other project.
c) You don't like your office environment, managers, colleauges, your management decisions..etc etc.....
d) The company doesn't seem to invest properly into your career growth.
e) You want a raise which you think you deserve, but your company is seeing the other way.
f) Your ideas are implemented but not appreciated.
g) The company is showing Pink slips, as it is downsizing.
The list can go on .........it boils down to each & every individual's requirements, career aspirations & unforeseen circumstances
Looking for a job:
Depending on your previous experience or educational qualifications ( in case of freshers ), keep a lookout in the recruitment section of newspapers like Times Ascent or HT Careers for suitable positions.
You can also regularly check for jobs that may interest you at websites like http://www.naukri.com/, http://www.monsterindia.com/, http://www.timesjobs.com/, http://www.myjobsinpune.com etc.....etc.....etc ......
If the situations warrants that you need to change your job urgently because of reasons like downsizing in the company, transfer of spouse to another city or you are looking to join specific companies in specific profiles, feel free to contact recruitment consultancies or employment firms.
Even passing word around to your friends & relatives that you are looking out for a new assignment has a small but realistic chance that your next job may come through this route. Hence discuss openly with your friends & relatives about your job search. The only care that needs to be taken is that don't go overboard or unnecessarily burden others or don't publicize about the job hunt at your office openly. With the current job scenario, you don't want to be jobless, as at times company don't take it kindly & may avoid giving you any additional responsibility or newer assignments which may be interesting to you & may altogether change your mind about seeking a change.
You could also directly send your resume to companies where you maybe interested to work or visit their offices & seek to meet the HR Manager. Sometimes companies may consider this to be a daring move & be impressed with you. Down the line some good opportunity may come & they may want to get back to you, to check your availability
